Reading Reading Reading

Just how much of a geek is Michelle?

This much of a geek:

Books Read as of May 2007

This is a chart that tracks how many books I’ve read each month, since July 2003. The spreadsheet that contains this chart, has even more geeky information, including the minimum and maximum number of books I read per month in a year. (Minimum=0, maximum=41)

As you can see, I’ve got some reading to do if I’m going to keep my average for this year up.

Oh, that big spike July 2004? I got the flu and re-read every one of Robert B. Parker’s Spenser books in less than a week. That would be just under 30 books if you were curious.

You’ve got a pretty cool super power there, M :)

Hehe, it makes me wish I kept track of things like this. I like the chart.

I don’t know about superpower, but it’s pretty good for eating up hours of my time.

And erin, it’s easy to keep track of how much I read, since I write a post for every single book I write. Extremely easy even, since my monthly categories for the book blog only list titles.

The charts were a bonus as I was playing around with the new chart functions of Office 2007.

How do you afford so many books? Or are they mostly library books? I don’t ready nearly as much as you do (but I wish I had time to), but I wind up spending quite a bit of money on books. Partly this is because I tend to read odd books that are expensive rather than bestselling paperbacks.

Well, I do buy used books, and I love to re-read books. So that does save me.

But mostly, I live in an inexpensive area, we only have one car, and we don’t have a lot of other expenses. So I have enough of disposable income to feed my book habit.

Plus, I almost always buy paperbacks, so it’s only $7 a pop, which is cheaper than two tickets to a matinée movie.
