Hair Today

So my excitement for today was that I got my hair cut. For most people, this isn’t a big deal. However, I have somewhat difficult hair, and this fall I discovered that the woman who cut my hair–and two other women–left the salon where I got my haircut, and I had no idea where she went, nor did my friends who got their hair cut by by those women.

After several months, we discovered that they had opened their own salon, after a less than amicable parting with their former salon owner, while in the interim, I ended up getting my hair cut somewhere else. This haircut reminded me why I willing pay $35 for a haircut, and kept going back to Rachel again and again–she listened to me, paid attention to the quirks of my hair, and we eventually discovered a good cut for my hair. When I attempted to explain the main point of what needed to be done to my hair to the interim woman (the hair at the nape of my next comes in straight, and tends to grow faster than the rest of my hair, so it has to be cut much shorter than the rest of my hair) she ignored me, and although she didn’t give me a bad haircut, it wasn’t a good haircut, because she didn’t address the issues with my hair I specifically mentioned.

Thus, I was delighted when I discovered that Rachel was in a new salon, and I could have her cut my hair again. So today I again have a good haircut, which will hopefully keep me from looking like a wild woman who accidentally stuck her finger in an electric socket, for the next couple months.

And if you think I exaggerate about my hair, here is a snippet of conversation between me and Michael this evening.

Michael: I’m just saying.
Me: You’re not just saying. You’re saying, saying saying.
Michael: That’s because I have to get it through your hair. Head. I mean head. I meant head.
Me: Nice Freudian slip.
