That cartoon is funnier than you think. He meant to say “Banzai” (??) as in “Tennou Heika Banzai” (?? ?? ??) – “hurrah for the Imperial Army” – the Imperial Japanese Army battle cry.
What he actually said was “bonsai” (??) – as in little tree you prune every year. Took me a minute to recognize the samurai and the connection to “banzai”, and not think he was talking about making compost out of the BS on the paper.
