Grumble Grumble
Well, I’m running a temperature, so it looks like I’ll be in the basement for the duration of the weekend. (See previous post)
Only good thing is I get o make Michael run up and down the stairs to bring me water and aspirin and anything else I need. (Right now he’s making me decaf lemon lift tea, with honey.)
So please, entertain me. I am surrounded by books, but I wouldn’t mind some mindless staring at the computer either.

Here‘s the best I can do in short notice. If you get sicker, I’ll think of other shenanigans. :)

Shawn is da bomb. What have I got to entertain Michelle? Not so much really. We did the beaver thing last week.
It’s currently turning to night here at 12:30 because of storms rolling in and there are tornado watches in effect all day for most of eastern NJ. I’d imagine they’re passing through West Virginia, but you’re safe in the basement already. Stay down there.
Do you have a bell to beckon Michael. You must have a bell so as to make your beckoning as imperious as possible.
I don’t know if this counts as entertainment, but I shall drop in periodically today to make further imperious comments.
That is all for the moment.

I don’t know about tornadoes, as previously mentioned, I’ve been in the basement. But Michael said we had terrific thunderstorms this morning, and had to go out in the rain to pull my plants to the ground, so they wouldn’t be blown over in the strong winds.
Then he stood on the railing of the front porch and leaned out and cleared out the overflowing gutter.
I hate it when he does that, which is why he only tells me about it afterwards.
I don’t have a bell. I dial his cell phone once instead. Or see if he’s on his computer and send a chat to come down and bring me water/aspirin/orange juice/more books. Luckily I’ve got a pile of books lined up here: Donna Leon’s Commissario Guido Brunetti series, and F Paul Wilson’s Repairman Jack series. Both are very good, and also very absorbing series.
Which reminds me, did you look into the Repairman Jack series? It’s really quite good. Kinda Robert Parker crossed with Steven Brust crossed with Simon Green.

I haven’t looked at it yet. It’s on my list, though.

When you guys were talking about Repairman Jack, I didn’t realize it was F Paul Wilson. I have enjoyed him for about 20 years, now. I remember his Rissa Kerguelen (? maybe ?) series. I guess I should Google that before I post this comment. Nope, that was F M Busby. I seem to remember a number of F Paul Wilson stories, but a lot of the titles in his Wikipedia entry aren’t familiar. I swear, I really have read F Paul Wilson.
I guess I’ll have to look into the Repairman Jack series.

The Repairman Jack stories, excluding “The Tomb” are more recent–1998 and forward. (See here if you’re curious about some of the first stories.)
I’m slowly reading through the books, trying to draw out the reading as long as possible to make them last longer.
I was doing the same thing with the Donna Leon books, but I’m almost halfway though my second of the day (I napped for a couple hours which slowed me down.)

I hope your weekend of down time helped and you are all better!

Michelle, WOW! Great reviews! Thanks for the link. I’ll just have to order them for my library.
