Word Press Widgets

Anyone around here write ‘em?

I added ‘em to my sidebar, but I have things in my sidebar that are not fodder for widgets, and need to change this.

I just add the non-widgets in the sidebar above or below the “dynamic sidebar” if that makes sense — so I get to keep both. Would that work for you? (You can also add more than one dynamic sidebar — your wordpress will recognize it as a separate “sidebar” in your widgets interface, but you control where you put it on the page, so you could have more than one widgetized block on your sidebar.) Of course, that’s less elegant than finding someone to make widgets for you, but it’s an option just in case. :)

That’s what I’m doing now. I was having difficulty with it, but that was because I broke something else.

My way is much less elegant. I use a widgetized sidebar, but for things that are not widgety, I use text widgets with html, javascript or other code. I do have to be careful or I can break stuff, and the capabilities are pretty sharply limited.

My Javascript wasn’t working, so I just ended up with multiple sidebars.
