Footloose and Fancy Free

I discovered some time ago that I am somewhat of an outlier among the UCF Trollops–I do not have an obsession with footwear. Yes, I find it important, and I am willing to spend money on shoes, but that’s because I want shoes that are comfortable, and because many shoes hurt my feet, I will put down money for shoes that are comfortable when I’m walking around all day long.

But as footwear is important to the other members of the Trollop Brigade, I tried to get into the spirit of things. Here are the results:

Trollopolloza Footwear

Ah Timberland! I wore the “WVU pair” home on the plane. So comfortable!

Trollopolloza Footwear

And most importantly, cotton socks! In black and gray! Awesome!

Being of the practical footwear sort myself…those look vedddddy interesting.

Of course, at the moment I’m wearing my classic Dr. Scholl wooden exercise sandals. Much loved, but still my favorite summer footwear.

the fivefingers shoes may be the dorkiest things I’ve ever seen. I’m sure if I ever saw someone wearing them I’d find it almost irresistable to stomp on their foot. (And I know I spelled irresistable wrong, but i give up.

Those shoes are downright creepy (the five-toed ones, not your, Michelle). The trollop shoe fetish has also passed me by for obvious reasons. Today I’m wearing New Balance khaki colored walking shoes (basically tarted up sneakers) to work.

Here, here…my daily footware of choice for traveling on public trasportation is a pair of Sketcher’s basic white leather sneakers. Do need a new pair, but these get the job done!

The toe-shoes reminded me of those toe-socks that still show up from time to time.

My favorite question from the FiveFingers FAQs: “CAN I WEAR FIVEFINGERS IF I HAVE WEBBED TOES OR SYNDACTYLY?”

Ooo, my wife would kill for those socks.

And since we’re doing recommendations, she recently found “Wigwam” socks (and brand name) with mixed merino wool fabric. She swears by them (and at me to get her more).

I think I fall somewhere between shoe-fetish and one-pair-of-comfy-shoes. I appreciate a fine pair of cute shoes, but I only have somewhere between a dozen and twenty pair (I know that sounds like a lot, but I’m counting them all, like this: one pair light sneakers, one pair running shoes, one pair hiking boots, one pair old/crappy sneakers, etc.)
