Republicans, both in and out of Congress, have enough of their own words to live down, but as hesitant as they are to denounce these assholes, I’m not ready to throw them in with them yet. In a week in which TeaBaggers have ridiculed someone with Parkinson’s (and been proud enough to do it in front of cameras), have spit on a Congressman, have called two Congressmen niggers and a third a faggot…I’m beyond furious. I hope the Capitol Police and Secret Service were taking names. Some of those guys will cross the line soon.

I personally hope the health care bill goes through. Yes I have serious issue with it as it stands, and I have financial concerns regarding how it will affect our country — but my concern about the health and well-being of humans trumps those concerns.

I feel I should follow up my response too, as it was made as I was walking out the door.

* The tea baggers (snort) have pushed many conservatives, including myself, further away from their agenda and the entire “conservative” Republican party. It makes a moderate like myself (I’m not even sure that’s the right term) sick to see such things.

* I personally hope the health care bill goes through. Yes I have serious issue with it as it stands, and I have financial concerns regarding how it will affect our country — but my concern about the health and well-being of humans trumps those concerns.

In complete fairness, most of the protesters involved in this shameful episode identified themselves as Tea Party members and not specifically as Republicans. But then again, this is exactly what I’ve been saying about the friggin’ Tea Party all along – they’re racist rabble and little more. Of course, this doesn’t actually negate your post, since the GOP has made a concerted effort to incorporate the Tea Party.

YOU hurled homophobic insults at a member of Congress. YOU yelled racial slurs at a 70 year old veteran of the Civil Rights Protests. YOU spit in the face of a Congressman. I understand your venom here -- but please consider that crazy people claiming to identify with a political party does not a party make. Even crazies within the political system don't negate the entire political movement. I do not defend in the least the actions you describe. Blaming all Republicans, however, I think is a little too general. Even blaming all Republicans that oppose this health care bill is too generalized. I know you well enough to believe you're not trying to spit on all Republicans, and yell biblical insults, and make political slurs at the rational conservatives that honestly believe the bill in its current form is a bad idea. Your post just came across that way, I wanted to let you know.
