How’s the Ankle?

Pretty good, all things considered!

I am still looking at four more weeks before I am allowed to put any weight on it, but the range of motion is very good, and the swelling and bruising have receded quite a bit!

Pretty sure the bruise on my calf is from the aluminum brace. Luckily, I’m only HAVE to wear the brace when I’m up and about. I can get away without it when I’m home, or sitting still at work. However, if I’m moving around, I definitely want that added protection!

Still a fair amount of bruising on the outside, but all in all it’s much better than it was. The scar on this side is less “swollen” and uncomfortable than the one on the outside of my ankle, but I hope that will resolve itself relatively quickly.

Check it out! if you squint, you can hardly tell which ankle was broken!

    I can’t tell at all… :)

Yes, you do want the brace on it for protection. You really don’t need to have it re-broken because some idiot bumps into you or you bump into something while it’s still healing. Take care of yourself, please!

    And I’m glad it’s healing!

Ankle and the stitches look pretty good.

Bruises are an odd lot, about the time you think they should be gone, another one surfaces in an inexplicable location. Last time I had an injury with deep bruises they kept popping out for weeks, seems they can travel through tissue as they disburse and are not always related to where the original injury was.

    Eric,

If I am moving around a lot, I am definitely wearing the brace, but sleeping, moving five steps to the bathroom, sitting in my chair or office? No brace! Ick! Besides, I can’t move my ankle when I’m wearing it, so how will I improve my range of motion?

Wendy, now that the swelling has gone down, I discovered a large sore knot on my shin. I absolutely do not remember hitting my shin when I fell, but then, my attention was elsewhere for some strange reason.

    Shawn: Ha. ;)
