I Hate My Brain

The way (I presume) a normal human brain works:
“I wish I’d have switched dentists YEARS ago. I can’t believe I let him screw up that many of my fillings!”

The way MY brain works:
“OMG! My bones are dissolving! I must have some rare disease and will be dead within six months!”

Yeah. And this is AFTER taking my anxiety meds.

In case it isn’t obvious, I broke a molar today, this one on the other side of my mouth. This was one of the fillings that first made me think maybe I needed to find a new dentist. But still–rare bone degenerating disease is OBVIOUSLY the more likely cause.

I don’t know why you’ve settled on a disease as the cause. Why haven’t you considered tiny aliens or a secret government plot? Hmmmmm?

  2. Michelle Says:

Because those things are outside forces and therefore far less disturbing. Also, they’re less likely to lead to my immediate demise.

One or more of the teeth that have broken had newish fillings, then? Did any have old fillings?

  4. Michelle Says:

Two of the three were definitely filled by the last dentist. I’m not positive about the third, because Monday’s teeth were on the top of my mouth and hard to see.

Along those lines, today’s xkcd reminded me of you:

I know there are parts of you that you don’t like, but I wouldn’t change you for the world. I’d fear the asymmetries that make you the wonderful you YOU would disappear, making you a normal and bland nice person.
