Finally got a new scanner!

Last scanner was purchased in August of 2000, so I figure that we got our money’s worth from it.

I was surprised that the two scanners are quite similar in size. (Kat is added for comparison)

Anyone interested in a used scanner? Still works fine–and has drivers for Windows ME! (but not Vista or Windows 7)

OK. I didn’t mean I wanted mother nature to ADD to the incidence rate. I just wanted to know how common it was.

A West Virginia worker has been killed by a falling icicle.

All attempts to escape were foiled.

I went back and checked the rabies records from 2006–both cats weight exactly the same now as they did four years ago.

Perhaps now Grandmom will believe us when we tell her she isn’t making Kat and Kit fat by giving them treats.

House across the street has some nice icicles.

My goal for yesterday was to take my camera and get pictures of some of the fabulous icicles around here. However, we spent four hours taking Grandmom to lunch and the grocery store, and I still had laundry to finish, so that plan was nixed. Perhaps I’ll get to it today, but since I’m baking three kinds of bread, I’m thinking probably not.

So you’ll just have to imagine all the fabulous icicles I’m seeing.

Also: Anyone know the incidence rate of death by icicle?

Don’t tell the cats, but they’re going to the vet this morning.

It’s Wednesday. I’m going to work instead of on vacation.

We had the weekend to ourselves (I would have preferred being in Seattle, but alas those vacation plans were utterly crushed by the weather) so I didn’t bake at all this weekend.

Luckily, I had some pictures from previous weeks on hand, so I still have something delicious (which is good, because I’ve been slacking recently).

I really like Marcy Goldman’s book, A Passion for Baking, and have been making lots of recipes from it recently. This recipe is for yeasted sweet rolls, which may be somewhat misleading, since sweet rolls make me think of gooey, sticky, cinnamon rolls, which is not what these are. These are simply an enriched yeast bread with extra sugar, and the fabulous added touch of vanilla.
