{"id":11957,"date":"2014-10-27T20:05:30","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T00:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/?p=11957"},"modified":"2014-10-27T20:06:44","modified_gmt":"2014-10-28T00:06:44","slug":"vacation-joshua-tree-wildlife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/11957","title":{"rendered":"Vacation: Joshua Tree Wildlife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I still have lots of pictures to go through, but have been trying to get caught back up on, well, everything, so here&#8217;s a quick look at some of the wildlife we saw.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an antelope squirrel (<em>Ammospermophilus leucurus<\/em> I think), which I&#8217;d assumed was a chipmunk.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/15011693614\" title=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_152 by Michelle Klishis, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3937\/15011693614_d8d638727b.jpg?resize=500%2C333&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_152\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m hoping this is a coyote (<em>Canis latrans<\/em>) because I&#8217;ve never seen one in the wild, and was excited to see it.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/15446455827\" title=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_130 by Michelle Klishis, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3956\/15446455827_f1bb905391.jpg?resize=500%2C333&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_130\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(there are two other pictures if you click through to Flickr.)<\/p>\n<p>I believe this is a Western Scrub Jay (<em>Aphelocoma californica<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/15012250533\" title=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_100 by Michelle Klishis, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3941\/15012250533_1fbdd85f6a.jpg?resize=500%2C333&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"20141016_Joshua_Tree_100\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(I got another picture of a different scrub jay in a tree.)<\/p>\n<p>I may also have seen a Pinyon Jay, but I couldn&#8217;t get a clear picture to check.<\/p>\n<p>LIZARD!
