{"id":12768,"date":"2016-04-27T06:00:45","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T10:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/?p=12768"},"modified":"2016-04-26T15:15:10","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T19:15:10","slug":"hiking-wv-greenbrier-state-forest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/12768","title":{"rendered":"Hiking WV: Greenbrier State Forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our main hike for the trip was at Greenbrier State Forest, where we did the Kates Mountain Trail. <\/p>\n<p>Location: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenbriersf.com\/\">Greenbrier State Forest<\/a><br \/>\nTrails: Old Road, Rocky Ridge, Holsapple, Youngs Nature, Mable Dowdy Nature Trails, and Kates Mountain Road<br \/>\nDistance: 10.2 miles<br \/>\nElevation: 1689 &#8211; 3370 feet (1680 feet elevation gain)<\/p>\n<p>Our hike started with two miles trail, that felt like it went straight up the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures do not come close to showing precisely how steep this trail was, and I didn&#8217;t take many, because I was too tired to even pull out my cell phone for a quick snapshot.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/26058205693\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20160424_Greenbrier_SF_003\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1711\/26058205693_d7e577bdd8_z.jpg?resize=360%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" alt=\"20160424_Greenbrier_SF_003\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/p>\n<p>Does this help? Probably not. Just take my word that it was REALLY steep, and I was very glad to be going UP that slope rather than down.
