And because we&#8217;re remembering Ben, we do the hike up without stopping, going as fast as we are able. Because that is how Ben would do it.<\/p>\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/mnf\/recarea\/?recid=7050\">Seneca Rocks<\/a><br \/>\nTrail: Seneca Rocks Trail<br \/>\nDistance: 4.2 miles<br \/>\nElevation: 2484-1582 feet (902)<br \/>\nTemperature: 58 F<\/p>\n<p>Hike up (starting from the sign @ bridge)<br \/>\nDistance: 1.4 miles<br \/>\nElevation: 1587-2446 feet (859 feet)<br \/>\nGrade: 11.7 %<br \/>\nTime: 35 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Last year, starting from Roy Gap Road (which was impassible this year) we took 40 minutes. <\/p>\n<p>At the top, wearing my Maintain the Light shirt. (Which I took off right after, because it is heavy 100% cotton and HOT to hike in. I am only willing to suffer so much.) The crag is up and behind me. Because of the rain, we were more cautious than normal scrambling up there.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/34103076583\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"Happy Birthday Ben. We have had a lot of rain this year, and a lot of rain leading up to our hike yesterday. (It even drizzled a bit on us at the top.)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/34769786172\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20170526_Seneca_Rocks_001\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4219\/34769786172_1f537ebe2c_z.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" alt=\"20170526_Seneca_Rocks_001\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Seneca Rocks was used by the 13th Corps Mountaineers for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wvculture.org\/goldenseal\/fall07\/seneca.html\">Combat Assault training during WWII<\/a>. I wonder if this is left from that time?
