{"id":13363,"date":"2017-05-27T21:22:07","date_gmt":"2017-05-28T01:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/?p=13363"},"modified":"2017-05-27T21:22:07","modified_gmt":"2017-05-28T01:22:07","slug":"hiking-wv-seneca-creek-backcountry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/13363","title":{"rendered":"Hiking WV: Seneca Creek Backcountry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since I had two different maps, we decided to tempt fate (and ignore the murderous GPS) and take a different way down from Spruce Knob.<\/p>\n<p>We did NOT get lost, and we found a gorgeous trail to hike.<\/p>\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/mnf\/null\/recarea\/?recid=7017&#038;actid=50\">Seneca Creek Backcountry<\/a><br \/>\nTrail: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/Internet\/FSE_DOCUMENTS\/stelprdb5433335.pdf\">Elza Trail<\/a><br \/>\nDistance: 2.9 miles (out and back)<br \/>\nElevation: 3169-3982 feet (813 feet)<br \/>\nUphill Grade: 10.6%<\/p>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t hike the whole trail, because I decided I was <strong>done<\/strong> with uphill for the day. So we reached the point of being tired (and hungry) and then turned around and hiked back down.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/34933547625\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" title=\"20170526_Seneca_Creek_Backcountry_003\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/c1.staticflickr.com\/5\/4246\/34933547625_6b71cc2354_z.jpg?resize=427%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"427\" height=\"640\" alt=\"20170526_Seneca_Creek_Backcountry_003\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It was one of the nicest hikes we&#8217;ve taken in months, despite being all uphill. We crossed one creek, and then hiked up the mountain beside another.
