The others were books I found on sale or had on my wish-list and received as gifts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publisher Tally<\/strong><br \/>\nBerkley: 3\/4<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2x7ozUP\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/A-Study-in-Scarlet-Women-Thomas.jpg?resize=200%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2x7ozUP\">A Study In Scarlet Women<\/a><\/em> (2016) Sherry Thomas (Berkley)<\/p>\n<p>This is a gorgeous cover, letting you know that this is an historical mystery and the main character is a woman who goes out and does things. I think the light streaming from the opening door is a particularly nice touch.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first book in this series.<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2uGsMOb\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Where-the-Dead-Lie.jpg?resize=199%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2uGsMOb\">Where the Dead Lie<\/a><\/em> (2017) <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/mystery\/harriscs.php\">C.S. Harris<\/a> (Berkley)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be honest, I don&#8217;t much like this model as Sebastian. However, they did a fantastic job despite the model not matching the description of Sebastian, so although this isn&#8217;t my favorite of her covers, it&#8217;s still beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>This series begins with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/4467\">What Angels Fear<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2oJDFb2\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Earthly-Remains.jpg?resize=188%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2oJDFb2\">Earthly Remains<\/a><\/em> (2017) <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/mystery\/leond.php\">Donna Leon<\/a> (Atlantic Monthly Press)<\/p>\n<p>All of her covers are scenes from Venice, and even if they don&#8217;t necessarily grab your attention the way other covers do, they are pretty, and they let you know that you are getting a Brunetti mystery.<\/p>\n<p>It may be at this point I just have a Pavlovian response to this covers, knowing that within is not just a mystery, but the atmosphere and food of Venice.<\/p>\n<p>This series begins with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/5434\">Death at La Fenice<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2lbUdpD\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Perilous-Undertaking-1.jpg?resize=199%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2lbUdpD\">A Perilous Undertaking<\/a><\/em> (2017) <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/mystery\/raybourn_deanna.php\">Deanna Raybourn<\/a> (Berkley)<\/p>\n<p>This is a gorgeous cover. It&#8217;s really a piece of art.<\/p>\n<p>It makes me wish I loved the story as much as the cover.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second book in the series, which starts with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/8760\">A Curious Beginning<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/13805\">The Books of 2017<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a list of mystery authors I tend to auto-buy, however, only two of those authors made this list.
