{"id":16147,"date":"2020-09-10T08:00:34","date_gmt":"2020-09-10T12:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/?p=16147"},"modified":"2020-09-09T18:47:58","modified_gmt":"2020-09-09T22:47:58","slug":"traveling-wv-gaudineer-smoke-hole-canyon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/16147","title":{"rendered":"Traveling WV: Gaudineer &#038; Smoke Hole Canyon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Assuming that everyone who could be, would be outdoors over the weekend, we decided for a scenic drive on Monday, with the hope that most people would be packing up and going home, so perhaps we could find some places that weren&#8217;t too crowded.<\/p>\n<p>Our primary destination was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/mnf\/recarea\/?recid=9917\">Gaudineer Scenic Area<\/a>, because it&#8217;s a place we hadn&#8217;t visited before. The secondary objective was a drive around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/mnf\/recreation\/camping-cabins\/recarea\/?recid=9916&#038;actid=29\">Smoke Hole Canyon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Location: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/recarea\/mnf\/recarea\/?recid=9917\">Gaudineer Scenic Area<\/a><br \/>\nTrails: Gaudineer Knob; Old Growth Trail<br \/>\nDistance: 0.5 miles; 0.7 miles<br \/>\nElevation: 4500 feet; 4093-4186 feet<\/p>\n<p>Gaudineer Knob had a somewhat narrow overlook, but the forest itself was beautiful.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a Smoke Hole Canyon, where we stopped briefly at Eagle Rocks, which we hadn&#8217;t visited before.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"
