Not that it feels like some of these books are twenty years old. So I just pretend that book doesn&#8217;t exist and go on loving the other books in series.<\/p>\n<p>Like Nightside, this series is quite dark. Cal is a monster,\u00a0 but he&#8217;s kept from falling victim to his nature by his brother.<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, the series is really a love story between Cal and Niko.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clear-right\">\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-right\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/His-Majestys-Dragon-e1511012285879.jpg?resize=200%2C331&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"His Majestys Dragon\" width=\"200\" height=\"331\" \/><strong>~ <em>His Majesty\u2019s Dragon<\/em>  ~ <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/authors\/novikn.php\">Naomi Novik<\/a><\/strong> (Temeraire #1) 8\/10<br \/>\nAvg Rating: 8.3 | read 2X | Historical Fantasy<\/p>\n<p>~ <em>Throne of Jade<\/em> ~ (Temeraire #2) Avg Rating: 7.5 | read 2X<br \/>\n~ <em>Black Powder War<\/em> ~ (Temeraire #3) 7\/10<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of books that are really romances&#8211;these books may be Patrick O&#8217;Brien&#8217;s Aubrey\u2013Maturin series except with dragons, but really, they are the love story of Laurence and Temeraire. Just not in a &#8220;monster romance&#8221; kind of way.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He had been in many actions, no less deadly or dangerous, but this one had differed in the crucial respect: when the enemy took aim at his charge, they were threatening not his ship, but his dragon, already the dearest creature to him in the world.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Three times I have read the start of the series, and then wandered off and forgotten to go back and read the rest of the books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/Dzur-1-e1511037153363.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-right\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/Dzur-1-e1511037153363.jpg?resize=200%2C326&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Dzur\" width=\"200\" height=\"326\" \/><\/a><strong>~ <em>Dzur<\/em>  ~ <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/authors\/brust.php\">Steven Brust<\/a><\/strong> (Vlad Taltos #10) 8\/10<\/p>\n<p>Vlad is a mob boss and an assassin\u00a0and a human in a world of beings who are stronger &#038; more magical &#038; much longer lived. For most of the series Vlad has been on the run, although things sometimes jump around in time, giving you Vlad&#8217;s past as much as his run from the mob.<\/p>\n<p>There were five years between <em>Isolla<\/em> and <em>Dzur<\/em>, and then two years between <em>Dzur<\/em> and <em>Jhegaala<\/em> and I kinda fell out of the habit of keeping current with the series.
