And we’re all contributing a final chapter–or most of us are anyway. Nathan said something about voting on which ending you like best, but I think you should just read everyone else’s take on the end of the story.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What the hell do you think you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re doing?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The angry voice caused everyone to turn and look, but no one was to be seen.<\/p>\n

Again.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Damnit Dave! I told you to stay out of my story!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Is this the Narrator again?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d snapped the voice. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And I have some words for \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcDave\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 here.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not the boss of me!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d yelled Dave. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I can take this story wherever I please and you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t stop me.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said the Narrator, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I can actually.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

The three heard what sounded like a small tussle, and then the now arguing voices got softer until they disappeared.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That was unusual,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Compared to what we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been through,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153that almost qualified as normal.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153True,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153So now what?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Everyone says the universe will be destroyed if we don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t act.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think some people were exaggerating a little,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153But they are correct in that we do need to act, and quickly. This situation has definitely gone on for too long.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153First things first,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d like to try and get Sophie into her own body. I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mind having her here with me, but with things are starting to get a little crowded.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I agree,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153And I believe that my own body is fully healed now\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhopefully we won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have any more strange visions now that we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re all purged of the virus.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That last one was a bit eerie,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie. She then turned to Sophie. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153How do you feel about this body?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Standing in the center of the room was a body very similar to Sophie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s old body, except that instead of being composed of skin and flesh, it was made of a variety of metal alloys. But despite being far shinier than flesh, it still had the tint of skin, and looked surprisingly supple. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153There will be some modifications that will need to be made as you grow older,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153but for now I believe it will suffice.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Will it always look like that?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie. As much as she enjoyed being 11, she didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to remain 11 forever.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Oh no,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153That body will grow and mature with you. So you get the experience of growing up without ever having to deal with skinned knees ever again. Or, for that matter, the hormonal insanity of being a teenager.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Blink, who now considered himself her guardian, looked rather relieved at that statement.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153So how do I get into my body?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Like this,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie. A small hose could be seen attaching itself to a port in the back of Sophie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s head and then\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Sophie blinked. She looked around and saw that she was standing in the center of a bridge that was much plainer that it had looked a few seconds ago.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How does it feel?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Blink scurried into the room. Despite his new scars, he looked not much the worse for wear.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 it feels good I guess.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sophie turned around slowly, moving her head and arms to get used to me. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It feels different from my old body, my real body, but it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s much easier to control than that other body I was in,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she paused. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Not that I guess I controlled it much.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153So you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re okay?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Blink.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Sophie. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m ok.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Good!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink, as he leapt into her arms and licked her face.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m glad to see you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re able to function in your new body,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie. <\/p>\n

They both turned around, realizing that they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d never seen not-Sophie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s true form before. She looked\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 gangly. And thin. Humanoid, but not human, although not frighteningly strange. Her skin was black as night, which made her somewhat hard to see against the view screen.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sorry,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie, her skin lightened to a deep brown, and her features became more human. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I tend to revert back to my body the way it was before I lost my body when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not paying attention.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s okay,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Sophie, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153you can look however you want.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Thank you\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Now, are we ready to move onto the Tragethen empire.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What do we do?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153You are the focus,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We need you to think about what you would like to happen to the Tragethen fleet and army. Then not-Sophie and I will focus your wishes and, if we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re lucky, that will be the end of that.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Sophie.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Blink.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Do it now?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d asked Sophie.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re ready,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said not-Sophie.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Well, OK,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Sophie, and she closed her eyes.<\/p>\n

Blink and not-Sophie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s faces took on looks of fierce concentration, and then suddenly they both looked startled.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ponies?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d they asked in unison. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I always wanted a pony,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Sophie. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
