These <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecs.soton.ac.uk\/~km\/projs\/probe\/\">Autonomous Sub-Glacial Probes<\/a> will be set deep into glaciers and measure temperature, pressure, and speed, and analyze the sediment.<\/p>\n<p>Although the implications for studying global climate change are tremendous, what I find most fascinating is just the idea of it. Technology has advanced so far that we can place an electronic &#8220;rock&#8221; deep into the bowels of a glacier.
