Since my days (and most evenings) were free while Michael attended his conferences, I spent most of my time in San Antonio walking along the Riverwalk, either eating or taking pictures. Or sometimes both.<\/p>\n

I spent most of my time, in fact, on the Riverwalk, primarily because it was much cooler than it was at street level. I did go elsewhere, but the Riverwalk was much cooler for walking.<\/p>\n

I went to the Alamo several times, but I found myself more impressed with the gardens than with the Alamo itself. Probably because work had been done on the Alamo, so what we were seeing was not what existed during that time. In other words, I felt no sense of history from the area.<\/p>\n

That said, it was a nice trip, I enjoyed going to the spa. <\/p>\n

Here are some of the more interesting pictures I took.<\/p>\n

Even though they were obviously man-made, I still liked all the waterfalls around the Riverwalk.<\/p>\n

I loved the painted tiles that were the backstop on several staircases.<\/p>\n

Here is the San Fernando Cathedral, which did have some of a sense of history about it.<\/p>\n

As I said, I was far more impressed by the gardens in the Alamo. This tree was amazing.<\/p>\n

As we don’t have sub-tropical swamps here, I was fascinated by the root systems that appeared above ground so the trees could get air in high water.<\/p>\n
