{"id":539,"date":"2004-12-02T11:48:57","date_gmt":"2004-12-02T18:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/539"},"modified":"2004-12-02T11:48:57","modified_gmt":"2004-12-02T18:48:57","slug":"absinthe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/539","title":{"rendered":"Absinthe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.m-w.com\/\">Word of the Day<\/a> was absinthe.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>absinthe<\/strong>   \\AB-sinth\\   noun<br \/>\n    1 : wormwood; especially : a common European wormwood<br \/>\n(<em>Artemisia absinthium<\/em>)<br \/>\n    2 : a green liqueur which is flavored with wormwood, anise,<br \/>\nand other aromatic herbs and commercial production of which is<br \/>\nbanned in many countries for health concerns<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Around here we&#8217;ve had long discussions about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feeverte.net\/\">absinthe<\/a>&#8211;it seems to come up <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/writing\/2002\/Oct02.html\">once a year<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/writing\/2003\/Jan03.html\">or so<\/a>, and for the most part the discussion is &#8220;who would want to drink something that tastes like licorice?&#8221; Not me, as I find anise repulsive.
