I didn&#8217;t allow the toasted coconut and pecans to cool before adding them to the batter. The chocolate chunks ended up melting into the batter so I had more of a chocolate cookie than a chocolate chunk cookie.<\/p>\n<p>This time I made sure to allow the toasted items time to cool. But I think I actually liked the cookie a little better the other way.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, my office mate loved them, as did Michael&#8217;s co-workers. So it could just be that I&#8217;ve never been a huge fan of chocolate chips, and I&#8217;d always rather have chocolate, instead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chocolate Chunk Coconut Pecan Chews<\/strong><br \/>\n2 1\/2 cups sweetened coconut<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups chopped pecans<br \/>\n1 can sweetened condensed milk<br \/>\n1\/3 cup dark brown sugar<br \/>\n3 tbsp melted butter<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n2 tsp vanilla<br \/>\n3\/4 cup flour + 2 tbs flour<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp baking soda<br \/>\n3 oz bittersweet chocolate chunks (I measured out 3 ounces, and then just dumped in the rest)<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/4083867752\/\" title=\"Chocolate Chunk Pecan Chews by Random Michelle K, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2626\/4083867752_b8bcbc1d29.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"Chocolate Chunk Pecan Chews\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 350 F.<\/p>\n<p>Toast the coconut and the pecans for 9 to 12 minutes (recipe says 9 minutes, but mine needed 12), stirring frequently.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/4083858944\/\" title=\"Chocolate Chunk Pecan Chews by Random Michelle K, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3501\/4083858944_a5f0da71fb.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"Chocolate Chunk Pecan Chews\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Set aside toasted coconut and pecans to cool.<\/p>\n<p>In mixer bowl, stir together milk, sugar, butter, egg, salt, egg, and vanilla.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda.<\/p>\n<p>Add the flour mixture to the batter.<\/p>\n<p>Remove 1 cup of the toasted coconut and pecan mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Mix in coconut pecan mixture and chocolate.
