Just to test it out of course. Since Grandmom can eat oatmeal cookies, I decided to riff on one of the recipes I&#8217;ve used before. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure how I feel about the spices. I might drop the cloves next time, since they&#8217;re a very strong flavor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oatmeal Cookies<\/strong><br \/>\n1\/2 cup butter<br \/>\n1\/2 cup shortening<br \/>\n1\/2 cup sugar<br \/>\n1 cup dark brown sugar<br \/>\n2 tsp vanilla extract<br \/>\n3\/4 tsp cinnamon<br \/>\n1\/8 tsp cloves<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp nutmeg<br \/>\n1 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 tsp baking soda<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n6 tbsp corn syrup<br \/>\n2 tbsp half &#038; half<br \/>\n3 cups old fashioned oats<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups flour<br \/>\n2 cups coconut<br \/>\n1 cup chocolate chips<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 375 F.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/4098936007\/\" title=\"Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies by Random Michelle K, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2645\/4098936007_ccf4d229a0.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/random_michelle\/4098946849\/\" title=\"Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies by Random Michelle K, on Flickr\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2663\/4098946849_4f4dff82e7.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cream butter and shortening. Add sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and spices, salt and baking soda and beat until well incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>Add egg, corn syrup, and milk.<\/p>\n<p>Add oats and flour, mixing well.
