{"id":9096,"date":"2012-04-03T06:00:26","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T10:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/?p=9096"},"modified":"2012-04-21T19:10:35","modified_gmt":"2012-04-21T23:10:35","slug":"tasty-tuesday-strawberry-shortcake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/notreally\/archives\/9096","title":{"rendered":"Tasty Tuesday: Strawberry Shortcake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Biscuits<\/strong><br \/>\n3 1\/2 cups flour<br \/>\n1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 tablespoon baking powder<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n3 tablespoons sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup butter, unsalted<br \/>\n2 teaspoons vanilla extract<br \/>\n1 large egg<br \/>\n1 cup buttermilk<\/p>\n<p>2 quarts strawberries, sliced<br \/>\n2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar or lemon juice<br \/>\n1\/2 cup sugar<\/p>\n<p>Whipped cream<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPreheat the oven to 425 F. <\/p>\n<p>Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla, egg, and buttermilk.<\/p>\n<p>Cut the butter into small pieces and then cut into the flour mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Pour in the buttermilk mixture and gently fold until the liquid is absorbed. <\/p>\n<p>On a floured surface, bring the dough together (gently!) and then roll out to about half an inch thick. Using a biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits. (If you do not have a biscuit cutter, use a knife to cut squares.
