It’s very strange. I don’t enjoy reading the first story, but I quite like listening to it. The other stories I enjoy reading or listening, but the first story I would much rather listen to. It’s very odd.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you take the sin on yourself?\u201d the seer asked insistently. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat sin is there in that?\u201d Natasha retorted, her irritation suddenly breaking through. \u201cEvery woman\u2019s committed that sin at least once! Perhaps there isn\u2019t anything there anyway!\u201d <\/p>\n

The seer pondered, as if she were listening to something. She nodded her head. \u201cThere is . . . And I think it\u2019s definitely a daughter.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take it,\u201d said Natasha, still in an irritated voice. \u201cI\u2019ll take all the sins on myself, any you like. Do we have a deal?\u201d <\/p>\n

The seer looked at her sternly, disapprovingly. \u201cThat\u2019s not right, my daughter . . . About all the sins. Who knows what sins I might hang on you? My own, or somebody else\u2019s . . . then afterward you would have to answer to God.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll sort it out somehow.\u201d <\/p>\n

Darya sighed: \u201cOh, these young people are so foolish. Do you think He wastes his time rummaging about in people\u2019s sins? Every sin leaves its own trace, and the judgment matches the traces . . . All right, don\u2019t be afraid. I won\u2019t put anybody else\u2019s sins down to you.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You know what they say? A Siberian isn\u2019t someone who doesn\u2019t feel the cold, he\u2019s someone who\u2019s warmly dressed!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I do love this series.<\/p>\n
