One of Lady Ty’s daughters has gotten into trouble, and she has called Peter to ask for his help in solving a problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeter,\u201d said Lady Ty, \u201cNightingale is not to know about this\u2014 is that clear?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cCrystal,\u201d I said. <\/p>\n

As soon as she hung up, I called the Folly. <\/p>\n

\u201cI rather think I\u2019d have to have taken an interest in any case,\u201d said Nightingale once I\u2019d briefed him. \u201cStill, I shall endeavor to adopt a fa\u00e7ade of ignorance until such time as you need me.\u201d He paused and then said: \u201cAnd you will let me know when that moment arrives.\u201d It was not a question.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love that Peter is eminently sensible when it comes to Lady Ty and people telling him to keep things secret.<\/p>\n

Though it probably has something to do with the amount of destruction that tends to surround him.<\/p>\n

I think what I love best about these books are that Peter remains himself throughout. A total geek.<\/p>\n

Just around the corner from where Holst composed The Planets\u2014 I know this because there\u2019s a blue plaque on the house and Bev once made me wait half an hour while she checked on some nearby trolls.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSir,\u201d I said, because Stephanopoulos wanted me to encourage him but not too much. <\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s hard, Peter,\u201d she\u2019d said. \u201cBut if you could contain your erudition and ready wit for just a little while we\u2019d be most grateful.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAm I allowed to be cheeky?\u201d I\u2019d asked. <\/p>\n

\u201cNo you\u2019re fucking not,\u201d said Seawoll.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You always have to be careful around legal aid solicitors because not only do they spend more time in police interview rooms than you do, they\u2019re also usually in a really bad mood because their clients are idiots and because the government is always cutting the legal aid budget.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Also, we get to spend more time with Gulees, who I also adore.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they were a bit odd, if you know what I mean?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cScientology odd?\u201d asked Guleed. \u201cOr My Little Pony odd?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cOur kind of odd,\u201d said Wanda making a little swirling gesture with her hand that took in all three of us. <\/p>\n

Guleed frowned at that and gave me an accusing look.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And then, a LOT of stuff happens.<\/p>\n
