The duke still wondered if perhaps one had sneaked in beneath their notice and was responsible for George III\u2019s periodic descents into lunacy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How could I resist?<\/p>\n

I should have resisted.<\/p>\n

I made it 40% through and just gave up. The world building could have been amazing. <\/p>\n

Instead, everything was just simply an excuse to boink.<\/p>\n

And they weren’t even good excuses. <\/p>\n

The world-building was all-but non-existent, the characters were flat and uninteresting, and ridiculous things happened and were taken in stride. I mean, the young woman didn’t know what a fire mage was, and she has good enough control to leave the house within a week or so?<\/p>\n

No. <\/p>\n

And her family is delighted that she has disappeared into the household of a widower (where other unmarried men live) and society thinks this is GREAT because he’s a Lord?<\/p>\n

(eye roll)<\/p>\n

People just don’t WORK that way. They don’t.<\/p>\n

The young woman is a twit, the young man seems to exist only to pleasure the young woman… whatever. Not for me.<\/p>\n
