Then, his pack abandoned him and he was left completely alone&#8211;even by the boy he thought he loved.<\/p>\n<p>This book happens before, during, and after the events of <em>Wolfsong<\/em>, giving us Gordo&#8217;s POV. I&#8217;d assumed this book was going to be Gordo and Mark working out their differences and dealing with Gordo&#8217;s father.<\/p>\n<p>No. It wasn&#8217;t. It was an entirely new Big Bad AND the book ends with Gordo&#8217;s father talking to one of the troublemakers of this book.<\/p>\n<p>This book was long. Really really long. It needed a lot of editing and didn&#8217;t get it.<\/p>\n<p>Which is too bad because I like Gordo, and I really like his friends&#8211;the other men who worked at his auto repair shop.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOh man,\u201d Chris said, looking down at the badly wrapped gift in his hand. \u201cI got you a gift at the dollar store.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even get you a gift,\u201d Tanner said, staring at the streamers and balloons and the tables filled with food. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can go in on mine,\u201d Chris told him. \u201cIt was only a dollar.\u201d<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s a pop gun,\u201d Chris said, shoving the present into my hands. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s from the both of us,\u201d Tanner said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou owe me fifty cents,\u201d Chris told him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOh, since you\u2019re being serious,\u201d Tanner said. \u201cGuys, look. We have to listen to him now. He\u2019s being serious.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019ll change my mind,\u201d Rico said, shaking his head. \u201cThank you, Gordo, for telling us what you think we\u2019re supposed to do. Should we ignore you right off the bat and move on to something productive, or do you want to fight us on it?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That did not, however, save the story from going on and on when it needed ruthlessly pruned.
