Buffy Season 8<\/a> Vol 3: Wolves at the Gate<\/em> (2008) Drew Goddard, Georges Jeanty, Joss Whedon<\/p>\n

\"wolves_at_the_gate\"<\/a>We finally learn who kissed Buffy and woke her up. We also learn where Xander went after Sunnydale was destroyed, and someone wants Buffy’s scythe. (Not necessarily in that order.)<\/p>\n

I’m not sure how I feel about the story arc with Satsu. I’m just not sure it feels like Buffy. It’s not that I think the story arc is wrong, I’m just not sure if feels like Buffy. But, the story did work, so I can’t complain too much.<\/p>\n

The story arc with Xander was very good. He was always one of my favorite characters, and although he was often goofy, they’ve managed not to make him a parody of himself. Of course, the end of his arc in this story was not so great, but it was well done.<\/p>\n

But the best line in the story probably came from Andrew, who I have to say annoyed me through much of Season 7. I think I found him and Kennedy both poor substitutes for Tara.<\/p>\n

Additionally, I liked the flow of this story better than the previous two volumes. As I mentioned in my review of volume 2, I sometimes feel like I’m missing things when I read Joss Whedon’s comics, but I didn’t have that feeling with volume three, which over all made it more enjoyable than the previous two volumes.<\/p>\n

I’m still, however, sometimes weirded out by seeing the actors and actress who played those characters for seven years transformed into drawn characters.
