The second Holmes & Moriarity book starts with Christopher once again backing out on a weekend with JX, and JX deciding that he doesn’t want to deal with it. So Christopher heads off to the east coast to help his old mentor and JX remains in California.<\/p>\n

This changes relatively quickly.<\/p>\n

Anna, Christopher’s old mentor believes that someone is trying to kill her, and has asked him to come out both to see if he can figure out who wants to kill her.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s why I want your help. You\u2019re very observant, Christopher.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI never noticed.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cFor being almost totally self-absorbed, yes. You\u2019re also surprisingly perceptive about people so long as they\u2019re not connected to you.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And also to take over her writer’s retreat.<\/p>\n

I was prepared for anything. Entire novels in present tense. Entire novels without dialog tags. Entire novels in second-person POV. You are reading this book. You are not happy about it. You are not happy about much these days.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I really like Christopher. He’s not not very self-assured, and he’s more broken than he’s willing to admit, but he’s also curious, and honest with himself.<\/p>\n

I happen to like money, so sue me\u2014 but not for all my money, please.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Just be aware, this is a boinking book. It’s also an interesting mystery with fascinating characters, so I think it’s well-worth reading.<\/p>\n
