Bloody Acquisitions<\/a><\/em> (2016) Drew Hayes<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Bloody<\/a>A vampire clan has moved to town, and this in no way bodes well for Fred.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, Fred, there are some interesting tales coming out of this city. Stories about one of our kind who\u2019s like no other. They say he brokered a peace with the therians, courted an agent, and that even the King of the West calls him by name. Part of why my clan has come is to try and broker a meeting with him, if he even truly exists. Should we succeed, I\u2019ll text that phone, perhaps even make an introduction. Someone like you could learn a lot from that sort of vampire.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Through a series of strange coincidences, he’s managed to start dating an agent, become friends with the head therian as well as one of the strongest mages in the area, and meet with the King of the West. There is no way this new clan won’t see Fred as a threat (even though, as an accountant, he totally isn’t).<\/p>\n

Despite what film and television might have led to you believe, joining the undead does not inherently make one suave, cool, or even particularly more socially competent.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although this book is broken into several stories, it’s primarily the single story arc of how Fred deals with the invading vampire clan and supernatural politics.<\/p>\n

Fred’s best and most endearing trait is his honesty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI highly doubt Richard would kill a clan of vampires for me, no matter how much I saved him on his taxes,\u201d I said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut they<\/em> don\u2019t know that,\u201d Leeroy countered.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This series is such a delight, you really should run right out and start reading it.<\/p>\n

This one looked like it would be more at home in a renaissance fair, except that the weaponry there is dull and not suited for real battle. And before you wonder, no, I do not want to go into why I happen to have that knowledge.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No, really. <\/p>\n
