{"id":1236,"date":"2009-07-09T18:23:07","date_gmt":"2009-07-09T23:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/?p=1236"},"modified":"2021-05-30T21:41:26","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T01:41:26","slug":"sorceress-of-darshiva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/1236","title":{"rendered":"Sorceress of Darshiva"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Sorceress of Darshiva<\/em> (1989) <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/authors\/eddings.php\">David Eddings<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0345369351?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=randomreading-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0345369351\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Sorveress-of-Darshiva.jpg?resize=182%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6366\" \/><\/a>Garion and company are continuing to move through Mallorea, and trying to avoid Urvon and Zandramas while figuring out where they need to go next.<\/p>\n<p>They spend time in Melcenea, where they discover not just where Zandramas has been and what she&#8217;s been doing, but also where they need to go next.<\/p>\n<p>And they get to meet back up with Zakath. <\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, although the story is almost all travel and few exciting events (although the conclusion is exciting) it still has some of my favorite quotes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;The whole countryside&#8217;s one huge park. Even the mountains have been landscaped.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That doesn&#8217;t seem very practical,&#8221; Durnik said disapprovingly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The people who live on the estates spent a great deal of money for them, so I guess they can do what they like with the land.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It still seems wasteful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Of course it is. That&#8217;s what rich people do best&#8211;waste things.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And then there&#8217;s my all time favorite quote.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Only an idiot tries to fight a war on two fronts, and only a madman tries to fight one on three.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the next to last book of the series, we learn a lot, and they travel far, and there&#8217;s lots of fun dialog, but they&#8217;re not necessarily exciting events.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s perfectly fine with me.<br \/>\n<strong>Rating: 8\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorceress of Darshiva (1989) David Eddings Garion and company are continuing to move through Mallorea, and trying to avoid Urvon and Zandramas while figuring out where they need to go next.
