The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky<\/a><\/em> (2019) Mackenzi Lee<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>This is not a boinking book, although it is a book about boinking.<\/p>\n

Henry \u201cMonty\u201d Montague and Percy Newton are mostly over the events of The Gentleman\u2019s Guide to Vice and Virtue<\/em><\/a>, and are beginning their lives together, except that they haven’t yet done it yet, because after Monty started to recover, he discovered that Percy was still a virgin.<\/p>\n

This story is told entirely from Monty’s POV, and Monty is still a bit of a mess. He’s trying to stay sober, but he really doesn’t know how to be anything other than what’s he’s been for years.<\/p>\n

My primary contribution to our circles back home had been making everyone else feel grounded and well-behaved in comparison.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So Monty is freaked out about taking Percy’s virginity and being terrible and Percy realizing he can do so much better than Monty…<\/p>\n

He raises an eyebrow, an unmistakable tread carefully, and so of course I put on my heaviest boots and start clomping through the flower gardens. \u201cYes, but . . . it\u2019s not like it\u2019s anything . . . remarkable . . . sex is actually . . . it\u2019s a part of nature, so it\u2019s really not . . . worms do it, you know.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This story is about Monty and Percy learning to talk to each other, which includes figuring out what they’re going to do with the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

We do get a teeny bit of Felicity, who is perfectly delightful.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Lord, you haven\u2019t been a virgin all this while, have you?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cNo, but I\u2019m a bit concerned my virginity is starting to grow back.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThat is not how any of this works.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

However, my caveat is that this is barely a novella–just over 100 pages. The ebook price is 9.99 which, as much as I love this series, is insanely expensive.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the library had it, because–that is a really steep price, so the story needed to be longer or the price smaller.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, it was sweet and adorable and a lovely interlude between Monty’s story and Felicity’s.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou deserve a reward for all I put you through.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re my reward.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a rotten reward I am.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cNot to me. Why do you think everyone needs some sort of recompense for being around you?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
