(with a KILT. Which is PERFECT.)) The second story is a short story about a young woman stumbling upon Artemis and the muses in the forest.

“That’s Calliope, the muse of epic poetry, Euterpe, music, Melpomene, tragedy, Thalia, comedy, Erato, lyric poetry, Polyhymnia, sacred music, Clio, history, and Terpsichore, dance.”

The third book is about Charon and the chaos god Azeban.

Both of the long stories involve working out difference between partners in relationships. Dionysus is the god of wine and orgies, while Leander prefers calm and order and not leaving the library.

Dio may be a little flaky, but he’s sweet and good-hearted.

“Look at me, Leander.” Dio cupped his face in both hands. “I know every beast of field and forest. The only one that’s ever ugly is man.

I love the library (even if it’s not as awesome as the L-space of Discworld) and I absolutely adore the library assistants.

And I think she does a wonderful job of bringing depth to Dio, who was little more than a party boy in the first book.

The third book is even more interesting, both in story and the relationship. We’re told in the first book that Charon is ace, so if he and Azeban are going to work things out, that’s something they need to come to terms with.

Also, although Azeban is a chaos god, who has a relatively low opinion of himself he shows himself to be fiercely loyal, which allows you to forgive the things he does.

Azeban had eaten enough at dinner that he wasn’t hungry, but some parts of being a raccoon were too strong to ignore. You took food when someone offered, no matter how miserable you were.

I really enjoyed these stories.

Publisher: Mischief Corner Books, LLC
Rating: 8.5/10

Family Matters (2018) Angel Martinez (Brandywine Investigations) This is two books and a short story.
