The Mystery of the Bones<\/a><\/em> (2019) C.S. Poe<\/a> (Snow & Winter)<\/p>\n

\u201cLife isn\u2019t all about money, Seb.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can say that. You don\u2019t have a hospital bill the length of a CVS receipt.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Physically, if not financially, anyway. But he has sworn off mysteries. He finally recognized that his involvement was too difficult for Calvin, and exacerbated Cal’s PTSD. Unfortunately, someone has decided to force the issue.<\/p>\n

Although Bad Things happen, Sebastian isn’t alone. He wasn’t in the previous books, but he’s learned to recognize that it’s not just his dad he can turn to for help. (Another part of his growth.)<\/p>\n

Of course there is enjoyable banter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was thinking of you.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIn a positive light, I hope.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cProfessional context. But if you\u2019d rather, I can imagine you stark naked.\u201d <\/p>\n

The distinct murmur of Quinn\u2019s voice was much too close for this to have been a private phone call. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m on speaker, aren\u2019t I?\u201d I concluded. <\/p>\n

\u201cYup,\u201d Calvin answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi, Quinn,\u201d I called. <\/p>\n

\u201cSebastian,\u201d she replied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although there are a selection of short stories coming out, this is supposed to be the final book in their story arc, and it is satisfying.<\/p>\n
