The Unwritten: Tommy Taylor and the Bogus Identity<\/a><\/em> (2010) Mike Carey<\/a>, Peter Gross<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After the disappearance of his father, Tom Taylor has been surviving by going to convention and doing book signings for the series he father named after him. Because Walter Taylor disappeared–and there is no proof of his death–Tommy cannot touch any of the estate, hence the conventions.<\/p>\n

Things start to unravel when a woman at a convention accuses Tom of fabricating his past–of not being the real sun of Walter Taylor, but instead a child adopted by Walter to represent the Tommy Taylor of the stories.<\/p>\n

I’m beginning to think Mike Carey is a hit-and-miss author for me. I love his Felix Castor series, and am eagerly awaiting the next books in the series (for some reason I have what I believe to be book four [or five?] but not book three. I don’t get how this series is being published in the US.) But could never get into his Lucifer comic series–which by all rights I should have loved.<\/p>\n

I’m not saying I disliked the start of this series, I’m just not quite sure how I feel about it. Idea and characters are interesting, but I just had a hard time getting into the story.<\/p>\n

We’ll see how Michael feels about it, although I’ll probably get the second volume in the series and go from there.
