The author&#8217;s note says the main plot had been created for a movie that fell through, so he reused the plot for Montalbano.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it really didn&#8217;t work for me.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not to say it was all bad. There were plenty of little bits that I always love seeing.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cChief, I\u2019m just so upset. I can\u2019t stand looking at the poor bastard.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen go outside. What are you doing in here, anyway?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, sir, I\u2019m gonna stay here.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince his mates aren\u2019t allowed to come in, I don\u2019t want to leave him all alone.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There was also a scene that showed the relationship between Salvo and Livia in a better light than we normally get.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>They tossed and turned in bed for about an hour, then, little by little, fell asleep. And their two bodies\u2014 which knew each other well and had no reason whatsoever to quarrel, and indeed liked each other and over time had grown increasingly fond of each other\u2014 slowly came closer and closer until, at the first light of dawn, they were stuck together.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>He closed his eyes. He had made a decision. <\/p>\n<p>He would arrange things so that this story would never be his.
