This book starts in 2011. Which is important since events changed quickly in the world (specifically the legality of gay marriage).<\/p>\n

\u201cBut,\u201d Kjell continued, his brow still crumpled in confusion, \u201cam I supposed to have card?\u201d <\/p>\n

It was Peter\u2019s turn to blink in confusion. \u201cFor what?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cTo prove my wife and I are married,\u201d he said, as though the relationships were completely equivalent. \u201cIf she goes into the hospital or something?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I don\u2019t think they issue Official Husband cards. I\u2019m pretty sure if you went to the hospital and said you were Carrie\u2019s husband, they would just believe you.\u201d Nick fielded that one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And other things.<\/p>\n

Curse you landline, thought Peter bitterly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The two are just lovely.<\/p>\n

Peter hated it when Nick played this reasonableness card. He had no defense against it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And I do like that she writes from just one POV. <\/p>\n

But mostly Peter is fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you stay, you\u2019re just going to get mad and start a fight.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t know that.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nick let out a short, sharp laugh. \u201cBaby, you\u2019re already doing it. Just the sight of this guy makes you see red.\u201d <\/p>\n

While this was undeniably true, the sheer veracity of it further infuriated Peter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
