\"Snuff\"<\/a>This is the last Sam Vimes book. I’d put off reading it for years, but now I’ve read it, and I’m almost done with Discworld. <\/p>\n

Vimes has been ordered to take a vacation, but (to the surprise of no one) he managed to find crime while at Sybil’s ancestral home.<\/p>\n

She had a special smile for these occasions; it was warm and friendly and carved out of rock. You had to stop discussing politics or you would run right into it, causing no damage to anything but yourself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ah Vimes, he never changed.<\/p>\n

(H)e\u2019d reasoned that a knuckleduster was not so much a weapon as a way of making certain that he stayed alive. It could be called a defensive instrument, a kind of shield, as it were, especially if you needed to get your defense in before you were attacked.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It was a dangerous habit: once policemen stopped being civilians the only other thing they could be was soldiers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
