Sebastian and Calvin are happily married, and Sebastian has managed to avoid getting involved in murders&#8211;until now.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe should get one of those OSHA scoreboards for the shop. You know, for recording accidents? Except we record how many days we can go before a mystery is dropped in your lap.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been doing very good,\u201d I answered. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know. A new record. It\u2019s been\u2026 545 days.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cExactly. I haven\u2019t\u2014 wait, for real?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, but now it\u2019s zero,\u201d Max explained.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I really enjoy spending time with these characters. And I especially love that Calvin&#8217;s PTSD and therapy remains important in the story.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>His military service had forever changed who Calvin was as a man. But two years ago he couldn\u2019t even admit to himself that he had a serious problem. A year ago he could hardly say, \u201cI have therapy tonight.\u201d Instead, he\u2019d say, \u201cI\u2019m seeing Dr. Chambers tonight.\u201d So yes, he\u2019d cried at the recollection, he\u2019d allowed that loss in the past to affect his decision-making in the current, but he\u2019d also willingly told me that story. It was huge progress.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The mystery was interesting, and I particularly like how Sebastian was pulled unwillingly into the mystery, but once he was in, he was all in&#8211;which is why Calvin didn&#8217;t want him involved in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m glad I was able to spend more time with these characters.
