Pross has been a widow for six years, raising her daughter, running a small bookstore, and taking on the occasional research project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did you want from the Society, then? You seem to have most of it covered.\u201d He looked up at her as if he was expecting something. <\/p>\n

She made a frustrated noise. \u201cI know what it says, but I don\u2019t know how to interpret it. I\u2019m not an archaeologist, I\u2019m not a materia specialist, I\u2019m not a linguist. There could be a puzzle or a warning or a\u2026 I don\u2019t know. Probably not a curse. I read too many novels.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ibis is a fellow at the Research Society, but it’s made clear he is not one of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cSame old, then?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYou?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cSame old, too. Wearing more today than some. Other people getting preferment, told about opportunities, that sort of thing.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As much as I enjoyed the story, this book has the same issues as the previous two books–a desperate need for editing.<\/p>\n

Ferry shrugged. \u201cHe spent so long without money, even now things are steady. That\u2019s not something wears off that easily.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He hoped the names protect in some way, if he used the soothing syllables.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He indicated two spots on the map, \u201cSomeone would have been found already: these fields were both ploughed over the centuries.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s aggravating.<\/p>\n

Aside from that I did like Ibis a lot, and Pross as well.<\/p>\n
