The Labours of Lord Perry Cavendish<\/a><\/em> (2021) Joanna Chambers<\/a> (Winterbourne)<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>Set in England in 1823<\/p>\n

For no reason I could discern I thought of this story and wanted to reread it.<\/p>\n

I think what I like best about this novella is that since it is a shorter length, there isn’t time for misunderstandings to be blown out of proportion. <\/p>\n

Both main characters make wrong assumptions, and both take things the wrong way. But there were reasons for poor reactions \/ failure of understanding.<\/p>\n

There were a few times, when he stopped talking for a moment, that he heard Stephen\u2019s sneering voice in his mind. <\/p>\n

\u201cChrist, Jonny, do you ever give it a rest<\/em>?\u201d <\/p>\n

Or his father\u2019s, icy and biting. <\/p>\n

\u201cJonathan, must you rattle on so? I can hardly hear myself think<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I especially liked Perry who is such a lovely cinnamon roll.<\/p>\n

It always took him ages to read anything, but especially any letter from his mother. He was glad the only other occupant of the breakfast room was Zander, who knew, and didn\u2019t care, that Perry was a shamefully slow reader.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And I love how we get a complete story in less than 200 pages. I always appreciate a good short story–especially one that is part of a series but can definitely stand on its own.<\/p>\n
