\"Whispers<\/a>I’m enjoying this reread (relisten) of the Rivers of London series, because I’m paying attention to things I missed earlier, because I didn’t necessarily catch the importance the first time through. <\/p>\n

But mostly because I adore Peter.<\/p>\n

So just chalk it up to pixie dust or quantum entanglement, which was the same thing as pixie dust except with the word \u201cquantum\u201d in it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But this was a murder inquiry, and woe betide any officer who breaks the chain of evidence, for they will be sat down and have what went wrong with the O. J. Simpson murder trial explained to them at great length. With PowerPoint slides.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And this book introduces Guleed.<\/p>\n

Guleed pulled a big furry hat with earflaps down over her hijab and looked at me and Carey, bareheaded and frozen-eared, with amusement. <\/p>\n

\u201cPractical and modest,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And Stephanopholus is getting a sense of humor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat depends on how much you want to know, boss.\u201d I opened the passenger door for her to get in. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are my options?\u201d she asked as I climbed into the driver\u2019s seat. <\/p>\n

\u201cMeaningless euphemisms at one end and your full-on Unseen University at the other,\u201d I said. \u201cThe Unseen University is a bit like Hogwart\u2019s\u2014\u201d <\/p>\n

Stephanopoulos cut me off. \u201cI have read some Terry Pratchett,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cReally?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cNot really. But my partner buys them in hardback and reads out bits to me over breakfast,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This series remains delightful. And I adore Kobna Holdbrook-Smith. I want a hundred Peter Grant books and for Kobna Holdbrook Smith to read them all.<\/p>\n
