\"Broken<\/a>A lot happens in this book. And there are a couple things I missed the first couple times through (mostly about the ends at the end of the book).<\/p>\n

As always, the story is a joy.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d love to stick some high vestigia material into a mass spectrometer, but first I\u2019d have to get myself a mass spectrometer and then I\u2019d have to learn enough physics to interpret the bloody results.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nightingale made an impressed murmur at the ease and speed at which the \u201cfilm\u201d could be manipulated. \u201cOr is it called tape?\u201d he asked. <\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t tell him that it was all stored as binary information on rapidly spinning shiny discs, partly because I\u2019d have to look up the details myself, but mostly because by the time he\u2019d understood the technology it would have been replaced by something else.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I didn\u2019t bother calling Nightingale on the mobile I\u2019d got him for Christmas because he only turns it on when he wants to call someone\u2014 the new technology being strictly there for his convenience, not anybody else\u2019s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Also, he added in some fun historical stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cNochnye Koldunyi,\u201d said Nightingale. \u201cA Night Witch.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIs that like a person or another thing?\u201d asked Lesley. \u201cLike Peter\u2019s Pale Lady?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cA type of Russian practitioner,\u201d said Nightingale. \u201cRecruited during the war, the training had a very narrow scope. It was concentrated almost entirely on combat. We heard rumors that there were whole regiments of women trained in this manner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love this series.<\/p>\n
