Can’t Escape Love<\/a><\/em> (2019) Alyssa Cole<\/a> (Reluctant Royals)<\/p>\n

\"Cant<\/a>I bought this book because I loved the cover.<\/p>\n

And I read it and really enjoyed it.<\/p>\n

But I still haven’t read the rest of the series–not because I dislike Alyssa Cole’s writing, but because I tend to dislike books with characters in the peerage. I want to know what happened to Reggie’s sister, but… even from the bits this novella touches on, that’s a lot of drama.<\/p>\n

But back to this story, Reggie is amazing.<\/p>\n

There was sweat at her hairline, despite the fact that her tight curls were up in a bun and the air conditioning was set to Hoth to stave off the heat and humidity<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I mean: GEEK!<\/p>\n

And Gus is also delightful.<\/p>\n

Gus leaned back in his office chair and brushed a hand over his thick black hair, feeling it resist as it prepared to spring back into its natural disheveled state. It wouldn\u2019t be tamed by anything but the hair product his grandmother mailed to him with the assorted Vietnamese treats in the care packages she sent from California. He lived in Queens, two blocks away from an Asian supermarket and one block away from a beauty supply store, but he didn\u2019t tell B\u00e0 N?i this. It was how she showed her love.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The down side is that there are a lot of ties to her sister’s story, so without that something feels missing.<\/p>\n

But Reggie and Gus are worth it.<\/p>\n
