He looked tired and worried. <\/p>\n<p>Coming towards them, he said: \u2018<em>That\u2019s<\/em> over.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Then the smile broke out again, that charming, boyish, expressive smile that went so harmoniously with his suntanned face and dark lithe grace.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018But Jane, who is it? Tell me at once.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Miss Marple shook her head very firmly and pursed up her lips. \u2018I\u2019m sorry, Dolly, but that wouldn\u2019t do at all.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Why wouldn\u2019t it do?\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u2018Because you\u2019re so indiscreet. You would go round telling everyone \u2013 or, if you didn\u2019t tell, you\u2019d hint.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u2018No, I wouldn\u2019t. I wouldn\u2019t tell a soul.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u2018People who use that phrase are always the last to live up to it.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u2018I understand you, sir. You want me to speak quite frankly \u2013 to say things that in the ordinary course of events I should not say \u2013 and that, excuse me, sir, you wouldn\u2019t dream of listening to.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;It has been said, you know (and, I think, quite truly), that you can only really get under anybody\u2019s skin if you are married to them. When there is no \u2013 no legal bond, people are much more careful, they have to keep assuring themselves how happy and halcyon everything is. They have, you see, to justify themselves. They dare not quarrel!
