The price of tallow.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I utterly adore Edwin.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is the story of my life: standing on the edges of things and worrying, when I\u2019m supposed to just walk through them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So I was not well-disposed to like Marius. <\/p>\n<p>And the start of the story didn&#8217;t help.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Fixing me once again with those beautiful eyes\u2014eyes I\u2019d sketched and painted so many times, trying to capture their light-entrancing depths\u2014he offered a patently inadequate, \u201cI\u2019m s-sorry.\u201d Followed by, \u201cI d-didn\u2019t know how to say no.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell,\u201d I told him, \u201cyou should have fucking figured it out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d just meant he should have come up with an excuse. But it carried different implications with bitterness in my voice and Edwin\u2019s stammer worse than I\u2019d heard it in a while. I didn\u2019t want to be someone his words fled from.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However.<\/p>\n<p>There was this footnote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Alexis: Slightly concerned that opening Marius\u2019s book with him being a dick to Edwin is sort of like DS9 opening with Sisko being a dick to Picard. Like, it\u2019s a lot. But it also felt right.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But it still took me a long time to finish it.<\/p>\n<p>I still love Edwin, and I still don&#8217;t much like Marius.
