Whitting stared at her. \u201cDid you\u2014\u201d The man seemed to grasp hold of his amazement with a visible struggle.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s demonstrated that he can cause a convulsion in me with his current. I told him that it wasn\u2019t the same kind of fit that I have. It doesn\u2019t feel the same at all. But it is, after all, only my body. What do I know?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“So she\u2019s going to have all the babies. And I shall spoil them and be the exciting, wicked aunt. I shall give them sweets until they\u2019re all riled up, and then hand them back to the nurse and be on my way.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For some reason, Emily wasn\u2019t looking her in the eye, and Jane had a sudden suspicion. \u201cEmily,\u201d she said softly, \u201cdo these people who don\u2019t eat meat or drink liquor have names, by any chance?\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cAre you trying to be a ninnyhammer?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cA ninnyhammer,\u201d Jane said, \u201csounds like a magic hammer. One that I can use to smite ninnies. I have a great need for one of those.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
