\"WeHonestly, there were parts of this I read with one I squinted, kinda not looking directly at the page, just in case something unexpectedlt awful was about to happen.<\/p>\n

It didn’t.<\/p>\n

Although there is plenty of murder and shooting and such, this is pretty much a cozy, so no characters I’d come to be interested in were killed.<\/p>\n

Amy works for a company that provides protection.<\/p>\n

Maximum Impact Solutions has many mottos, but \u201cLet them kill the old woman\u201d is not one of them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Unfortunately, someone has been killing off clients, and has been making sure it was done when Amy was in the area.<\/p>\n

And her boss, Jeff, has his own problems to deal with right now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m guessing you do mind?\u201d says Jeff, inviting Susan to sit. \u201cThat sort of thing?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThat sort of thing? Yes,\u201d says Susan, impassively. \u201cI mind that sort of thing.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWould you like me to do something?\u201d Jeff asks. <\/p>\n

\u201cDismantle the patriarchy?\u201d suggests Susan. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll talk to them,\u201d says Jeff. \u201cThey don\u2019t really like black guys interfering, but I\u2019ll do my best.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So Amy ends up dragging her client, author Rosie D\u2019Antonio, into the mess.<\/p>\n

“Amy, what do you like about yourself?\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m English,\u201d says Amy. \u201cI don\u2019t like anything about myself.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cYawn,\u201d says Rosie. \u201cI used to be English too, and I got over it. Pick something.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well, maybe there wasn’t much dragging involved with Felicity, but there is a good deal of coercion with her father-in-law, Steve.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour passport will be checked in the Arrivals Suite,\u201d says Brad. \u201cThen Border Protection. They never check bags, though.\u201d <\/p>\n

Steve is relieved\u2014he doesn\u2019t need a bored man with a gun questioning why he\u2019s only packed three pairs of underpants.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It was delightful, and despite getting worried a couple of times, there were no untimely deaths of characters I didn’t want to die.<\/p>\n
