It’s the final book in the series, so I wanted it to be strong and perfect, but…. it wasn’t.

I could see/feel some of the struggles he had in writing, which is understandable. I wish he’d taken a little more time with the editing, both to tighten up some of the sections of the book, and find all the copy-editing issues.

Of which there were multiple.

That out of the way, as far as the story, I was happy with how things went. We got to see Fred’s full story arc, and how he had changed and grown over the course of the series. I also liked the vampire mythos they came up with here, and why Fred’s power was what it was.

Those explanations fit well with how Fred has acted throughout the series, and how he has worked to collect allies and friends rather than amass power.

Being the final book in the series, we got multiple glimpses into the lives of the members of Fred’s clan–and his friends.
